Death may have been heat related
The Rock County Coroner's office is investigating the death of a Beloit worker, which could have been heat related.
Amwood Homes plant yard foreman Christopher Marshall, 30, was found unresponsive at the Beloit plant Monday. A 911 call was placed about 2:30 p.m., and Marshall was pronounced dead at Beloit Memorial Hospital less than an hour later, explained Coroner Jenifer Keach.
Temperatures had been in the 90s at the time of Marshall's collapse.
Keach said he had been welding that morning and the company said Marshall had spent a lot of time moving materials in an area that wasn't air conditioned.
"We really can't say for sure what killed him at this point," Keach said, adding heat could have been a factor.
A preliminary autopsy was inconclusive Monday so a blood sample was taken for toxicology tests. If heat was a factor, the tests will show that Marshall's blood chemistry was off at the time of his death. The test may also show medications or medical conditions that may have been factors in his death.
Toxicology results should be back in six to eight weeks.
