Worker injured in electrical accident
An Alliant Energy employee is in stable condition after being electrocuted while working in the Town of Beloit Thursday.
The accident occurred just after 9 a.m. in the 3400 block of Rose Court in Garden Village, Town of Beloit Fire Capt. Wayne Endthoff said. The man received a significant shock and suffered serious burns.
Alliant spokeswoman Janice Mathis said the man was working on a connection to a transformer when the accident occurred.
The man was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital then transferred to the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
"The employee is in stable condition and is conscious," Mathis said. "At this point, our main focus is on the employee and his family."
Man sentenced for sex assault
A Beloit man was sentenced to one year in jail with probation for sexually assaulting a child.
William Robert Blaser, 51, of the 1800 block of Sun Valley Drive, Beloit, was sentenced to 10 years probation with one year in jail for first degree sexual assault of a child. He made a plea deal after a jury trial was already in progress, and a second count of first degree sexual assault of a child was dismissed.
According to criminal complaint, he regularly had young girls over at his house to watch movies and have squirt gun fights. The young girls were introduced to him through his relatives.
In another case, charges against him for interfering with child custody and obstruction were dismissed.
Dairy breakfast set in Orfordville
ORFORDVILLE - The annual Rock County Dairy Breakfast is set for Saturday at the Phil and Patty Wellnitz farm, 1840 Tallefson Road, Orfordville.
Breakfast will be served 6:30 to 11 a.m. at the farm. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children. Breakfast will include pancakes, ham, milk, cheese and strawberry sundaes.
Also, an area for crafters will be set up, and a petting zoo will entertain children. Tours of the farm's milking system also will be offered.
To get to the Wellnitz farm, take Highway 213 or Highway 11 into Orfordville. Tallefson Road is located less than a mile from where Highway 213 and 11 intersect.
Shuttle available for graduation
Shuttle services will be available for Beloit Memorial High School's graduation ceremony Saturday.
The transportation will take people from the former Beloit Mall to the high school at no charge. The continuous service will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon.
The graduation will begin at 10 a.m. on the Jacobson Field. In the event of rain, activities will be moved inside to the Barkin Arena. Tickets for the arena must be obtained from students ahead of time. No tickets are required for entrance onto Jacobson Field.
