UW - Rock hosts blood drive
JANESVILLE - The University of Wisconsin - Rock County Health Sciences Club and Student Government Association will sponsor a blood drive, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. March 3 to benefit the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin.

The blood drive will be held in the All Purpose Room, Hyatt Smith Hall, 2909 Kellogg Ave., Janesville.

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

Social anxiety explored
A therapy group exploring symptoms and solutions to social anxiety will be starting to meet March 8 at Beloit Memorial Hospital, 1969 W. Hart Road.

About 15 million Americans suffer from social anxiety. If standing in line at the grocery store, phoning a friend or talking with your boss give you a lump in your throat, you also may be experiencing social anxiety.

Effective methods to help people overcome this anxiety will be explored by professionals from the Counseling Care Center.

Red Cross blood drive set
The American Red Cross - South Central Wisconsin Chapter, will hold a blood drive 9 a.m. - noon March 12 at the Beloit office, 318 State St., Beloit.

Those intending to give blood should bring a donor card or drivers license or two other forms of ID. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health on the day they give blood.

First aid taught
An eight hour integrated class to train designated first aid providers on the worksite will be offered 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. March 10 at the Occupational Health and Sports Medicine Center, 1650 Lee Lane, Beloit.

The fee for the course is $65 per participant for initial training and $40 for retraining. The course is recommended by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Holistic health discussed
Susan Schnirring, R.N. will discuss holistic health during a meeting of the Hart to Heart for Healthier Lifestyles group meeting 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. March 15 at Beloit Memorial Hospital, 1969 W. Hart Road, Beloit.

Schnirring will be integrating traditional medicines with such areas as yoga, tai chi, energy medicine, herbal medicine, meditation, nutrition and spiritual options.

Heart Solutions opens
MACHESNEY PARK - HeartSolutions recently opened a new training center at 8407 N. Second St., Machesney Park, Ill.

The center provides CPR classes, pet CPR classes, first aid classes, advanced cardiovascular life support training, and other training..
