Man beaten at postal drop box
A South Beloit man said he was badly beaten in the head as he was mailing a letter to Santa Claus.
The 41-year-old man was treated and released at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
Police were called to the 400 block of Fox Run Monday just before 11 p.m. The man, who was bleeding from the head, said he drove there after the attack, which he said occurred near the drop box by the post office in the 300 block of Oak Grove Avenue, according to police reports.
He described a black male in a gray sweatshirt as his attacker, according to the report.
Police found blood evidence at the drop box as well as in the hallway of the man's Oakland Avenue apartment, where several bags of marijuana were also found. Crime scene technicians were called and the investigation is ongoing.
