Hospital, clinic in new system
Private Healthcare Systems, the nation's leading health care cost management company, recently announced the addition of Beloit Physician Hospital Organization Inc. into its PPO network serving southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
The Beloit Physician Hospital Organization consists of Beloit Memorial Hospital, the Beloit Clinic and the satellite facilities of the hospital and clinic.
High cholesterol clinical trial set
ROCKFORD - Patients with high cholesterol are being sought to take part in clinical trials for cholesterol medication research.
Those who qualify will receive medication, study related physician visits and lab work.

Marrow donors always needed
ROCKFORD - November is National Marrow Donor Month and the Rock River Valley Blood Center is urging people to register with the National Marrow Donor Program.
The Rock River Valley Blood Center is a NMDP Donor Center. All anyone needs to do to join the registry is learn some facts, complete a health history and consent form and give a small sample of blood.
People with leukemia and other inherited diseases could be treated with marrow or blood cell transplants, but matching donors are needed.

Lovelight event set for Dec. 6
There still is time to light up the holidays in memory of a loved one thanks to the Lovelight ceremony set for Dec. 6 at Beloit Memorial Hospital
The annual tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the hospital at 1969 W. Hart Road.
For a minimum donation of $5, a light will be placed on one of the trees at the hospital. White lights represent a loved one who has passed away and red and green lights represent those who are being honored. The names of all those remembered or honored will be run in the Beloit Daily News on the following dates - Nov. 24, Dec. 9 and Dec. 23.
Funds raised through the Lovelight program will go toward cancer fighting technology at the hospital.

OSHA course to be offered
An Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Outreach Course for General Industry will be offered 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Occupational Health and Sports Medicine Center at 1650 Lee Lane.
Topics to be covered include an introduction of OSHA standards, including record keeping, walking and working surfaces, fire protection and emergency evacuation procedures, electrical safety, machine guarding and more.
The course fee is $275 per participant.

Alcohol, drug training slated
A drug and alcohol awareness training course for supervisors at the workplace will be offered 8 - 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Occupational Health and Sports Medicine Center, 1650 Lee Lane.
The course satisfies the Department of Transportation requirement for two hours of supervisor training in substance abuse recognition.
The course will include DOT regulations regarding post-accident and random drug testing.
The course is free to Occupational Health Consortium members. For other participants, the cost is $43.
