Hanaman, Ferone lead Turner's soggy 32-14 romp over East Troy

EAST TROY, Wis. - With setbacks the previous two weeks against Clinton and Jefferson, Beloit Turner's football team wasn't going to let a little thing like a few raindrops stand in its way Friday night.

Turner's Trojans kicked it back into gear against host East Troy, improving to 6-2 with a 32-14 Rock Valley Conference victory.

Turner already held a 25-7 lead in the fourth quarter when Kyle Hanaman and Sereno Ferone scored on successive possessions to push the advantage to 32-7. Hanaman's third TD run came from the East Troy 16, where the Trojans had taken over on downs.

On Turner's next play, from their own 31-yard line, Ferone took the snap in the wildcat formation and took it 69 yards for the Trojans' final touchdown. Juan Reyes booted the PAT.

East Troy quarterback Jacob Dessart, who had scored on a 52-yard dash added a 30-yard touchdown run for the 32-14 final margin.

With the exception of his two TD runs, RVC second-leading rusher Desseart was bottled up by the Turner defense. That defense also forced turnovers on downs four times, including early in the fourth quarter after East Troy had blocked a punt by Juan Reyes and recovered the ball at the Turner 39.

Ferone's 69-yard run pushed his game total to 138 yards on the ground on eight carries. Hanaman finished with 158 yards and scored three touchdowns.

With the wet weather, Turner relied on its effective running game. Sophomore quarterback Kenny Draeving threw only seven times, completing two for 49 yards.
