BELOIT - A man wanted in connection with a July 27 armed robbery was arrested Monday afternoon in Beloit.

Marquayl W. Shields, 21, of Beloit was arrested at a home in the 2300 block of Saint Lawrence Avenue.

Shields was wanted in connection with the armed robbery after a victim was robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Keeler and Dewey avenues, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

At the time of his arrest Monday, Shields had heroin, unprescribed prescription drugs and marijuana on his person, according to Beloit police.

He faces three charges of possession of a controlled substance, a probation violation, battery and party to the crime of armed robbery.
