'State is lucky to have Ryan'

Print Article

It is unfortunate that I have been hearing some grumbling that since Paul Ryan became Speaker of the House, his position in government has actually hurt southeastern Wisconsin more than it has helped.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In the first 7 months of this new Congress, Paul Ryan has brought Vice President Mike Pence and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to Janesville. They toured some of the great businesses we have. They shined a bright light at the great things the state is doing to advance our economy.

Having an elected official who can call Secretary Perdue, or any member of the Cabinet, and say "hey, how about coming to Wisconsin's 1st District and check out what we are doing here," is critical to the growth of the district and the state. We have seen this with SHINE in Janesville and Foxconn in Kenosha. If Paul Ryan was not there advocating for these two economy boosting companies coming to Wisconsin, I don't know if they would have crossed the finish line.

It is clear that no matter what position he holds in government, Paul Ryan still has an intense amount a loyalty to us, here in Wisconsin. The country is lucky to have a leader such as Paul Ryan serving as Speaker of the House. The 1st Congressional District is even more fortunate to have Paul Ryan advocating for us.
