RCCS to dedicate new gymnasium

BELOIT - Rock County Christian School (RCCS) is inviting everyone to its gym dedication. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 17.

"We are very excited to finally be able use our new gymnasium for our fall volleyball season and other activities. The workers did an awesome job of constructing this building and we are grateful to God," said Head of School Tim Befus.

A ground-breaking for the school's new 9,000-square-foot gym was held at the end of May 2016. However, a fire in December delayed completion of the project until April.

Now completed, the gym will be home to athletic programs, physical education classes and community events. The school will be hosting a volleyball tournament in the new gym on Aug. 26.

As part of the dedication ceremony, a cornerstone will be added by general contractor Tom Brooks. A to-be-created time capsule will be placed behind the cornerstone.

The school has already invited workers who helped build the gyms, students, families and Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce to celebrate its new gym.

The new gym dedication comes just as Rock County Christian School prepares for the start of a new school year on Aug. 23.
