'They just can't tell you the truth'

Print Article

When I was a kid there used to be a saying, "Are all fishermen liars or do only liars fish?"

Because they used to stretch the length of whatever they caught.

I think after listening to the news lately, the saying should be changed.

It should now be, "Are all elected officials liars or do only liars run for elected office?"

You have $135 million in the bank and you go out and borrow two billion to pay your bills. But then you go out in front of people and tell them you have a balanced budget.

You go to a meeting with someone who has "dirt" on your opponent and then tell the people you never met anybody.

You have the people of a city let you know whether they want a street closed off. When they tell you they want it left open, you still close it.

No elected official can tell you the truth no matter how hard they try. It's just not in their bones.
