SOUTH BELOIT - Kayakers, canoers and rafters are being asked to avoid the area of the Turtle Creek near the Wheeler bridge due to safety concerns.

The South Beloit Fire Department has issued a warning that there is an obstruction in the water near the bridge.

This has caused conditions of high water levels and swift currents which may present a danger to recreational water travelers.

The fire department advises using other areas of the creek for recreation.
