'Hold referendum on school plans'

Once again, our school board is teetering on the brink of tax and spend policy, that arguably benefits our ailing district nil.

In less than two months after the initial suggestion, some members of our board are on target to fast track a 23 million dollar expansion of our district, without even bothering to go to the people they intend to have fund it. A 300 word letter to the editor can't even begin to touch on why it's so wrong.

We just blessed you with 70 million, that ballooned into 90 million when all was said and done. You rape us each year of millions by abusing revenue limit exemptions for energy, and quickly dismiss the blessing of basically an entire new physical district with beautiful new buildings, and again, it wasn't enough.

I find it very alarming that our board would so quickly vote to spend our money based on a long term project and vision of a very small number of people (Beloit 2020). Our new buildings now sit partially empty due to net loss of students open enrolling out, and our class sizes exploding due to a teacher exodus. Now we want to build a new building with facilities and luxuries like air conditioning that even our students aren't afforded (while the south wing of the high school still has toilets that flush 17 gallons of water).

I find it detestable, that this project, and vision of Beloit made by so few, is not being considered for referendum by our elected board. Do the right thing, trust us parents and taxpayers, referendum. Our kids, our money.
