Hononegah attendance down 40% Wednesday

ROCKTON - Student attendance was down about 40 percent at Hononegah Community High School Wednesday, most likely due to a threat of a shooting found in a computer lab at the school.

The school had additional police presence throughout the building Wednesday after a photograph of a written note was posted on Snapchat and found on a computer at the school on Tuesday. The police presence is expected to continue through Friday.

Every possible precaution is being taken to ensure the well-being of students and staff, according to a news release from the school. There continues to be no evidence that the threat is credible based on the investigation.

"The assistance of our police department, staff, and administration has helped Hononegah Community High School provide the best possible educational program today under difficult circumstances. The safety and security of our students and staff is always our number one priority," said Hononegah Superintendent Lynn Gibson.
