'Proud of your public servants'

Print Article

I would like to express our family's heartfelt gratitude to the Beloit Police Department and the Rock County Medical Examiner's Office for their compassionate and sensitive treatment of us during our time of trauma and grief.

On April 24, my nephew Jeffrey Ruffell, took his own life in Beloit. From the moment of filing a late evening missing person's report at the police department, to the dreaded early morning knock on the door by two police officers and the medico-legal investigator, we were shown respect, understanding and genuine concern as we heard the final sad news about Jeff.

We especially need to single out Detective Brian Hawley, medico-legal investigator Jennifer Schroepfer, and officers Jeremy Reinhold, Joshua Broker and Ryan Kelly. They are among many who deserve high praise for performing their duties with skill and professionalism. They made our terrible moments slightly more bearable that evening. Beloit can be proud of these public servants.

Please keep them in your prayers.

Jane Tobias Natale (Beloit); John Tobias (Dana Point, California); Murray Ruffell (Florida); Brad Ruffell (Fort Collins, Colorado); Sara Ruffell (Reno, Nevada)
