'Over mountains, through valleys'

Print Article

The New Zion Baptist Church family is to be commnended and the church committee is to be congratulated for a successful 100-year anniversary celebration under the leadership of Pastor James M. Ivy.

The church reached its goal and had a wonderful year-long plan. The areas of centennial support were in platinum, gold, silver, bronze or separate funding options for the heritage steeple, patrons banner, centennial flag, a centennial book and the gala. Everyone could participate.

I united with the church under the leadership of the Rev. Ogiss Dillon, in 1953.

Now, 100 years is a long time - 10 decades. New Zion crossed over mountains and went through valleys before landing on the 1905 Mound site. The entire church is to be commended.
