BELOIT — Residents and visitors who stop by downtown Beloit will be in for an extra treat on Friday.
ArtWalk, a Downtown Beloit Association (DBA) special event, is to take place from 5-9 p.m. at downtown shops.
“It creates a really fun ambiance,” said Crystal Cribbs, DBA promotions coordinator. “Its a great way to enjoy downtown.”
This year there are 25 downtown Beloit businesses that will host local artists and their works. Throughout the event people will be able to walk from store to store to check out the offerings and buy the pieces they love the most.
All of the vendors at ArtWalk are local and many are showing off different items that they have made by hand. Typically a downtown business will host one or two artists during the event, but some larger spaces can feature a handful.
“We will have jewelry, fine art, baskets, weaving, an illustrator, pottery... you name it,” Cribbs said.
In addition to art and handmade gifts for sale, different groups may be downtown showing off their talents. In the past, for example, the Beloit Memorial High School Theatre students performed a skit. The Beloit Memorial High School Art Club also has participated in the fun annual event.
“Were trying to animate the downtown however we can,” Cribbs said.
A trolley will be available for rides throughout ArtWalk. It will be making loops around the downtown area every few minutes.
“This is a great opportunity to purchase gifts for Mothers Day,” Cribbs said.
