Associated Press White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Covey is the latest ex-Snapper to break into the Major Leagues.

BELOIT —Dylan Coveys path to the Major Leagues was a unique journey, to say the least.

The former first-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers didnt sign with the team after discovering he had diabetes. After attending San Diego State, Covey was selected by the Oakland As and came through Beloit in 2013 and 2014.

Wednesday night, after being plucked from the As roster by the Chicago White Sox in the Rule V Draft, Covey made his second start for the White Sox. Last week, Covey became the 180th former Snapper/Beloit Brewer to suit up in the Major Leagues.

After pitching well in his first outing, Covey allowed eight runs and three home runs in five innings as the White Sox fell 9-1 to the host New York Yankees.

There are currently 24 former Snappers in the Majors, with Jose Torres and David Robertson being two notable names.

Torres made a meteoric rise to the Majors after appearing in 48 games for the Snappers in 2015. He was traded in December of 2015 and made his debut on Sept. 22, 2016, a little over a year after he was toiling away in the Midwest League. Torres is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA this season as a key member of the San Diego bullpen.

Daniel Robertson became the fifth member of the stacked 2013 Snappers roster to earn a trip to the Show when he made the Tampa Bay Rays Opening Day roster.

Robertson, who was 21 when he was the starting shortstop in 2013, it hitting .174 in 24 at-bats while seeing action as a utility man for the Rays.

Catcher Bruce Maxwell (13) is back in the big leagues with the As after recently being called up. Maxwell is 2-for-5 in his limited time. He made his debut last season for Oakland after steadily climbing the ranks in the As system.

Pitcher Raul Alcantara (13) has struggled in two outings this season, including one start, having allowed eight runs in four innings of work. Reliever Ryan Dull (13) has compiled a 4.76 ERA for the As this season. Dull made his debut in 2015.

Michael Ynoa is pitching out of the bullpen for the Chicago White Sox and has put together a 1.42 ERA in four outings thus far.

Eddie Rosario (12) is hitting .217 for the Twins, while Miguel Sano (12) is hitting .245 with four home runs for Minnesota. Taylor Rogers (12) has thrown three scoreless innings for the Twins, while Michael Tonkin (12) has a 3.38 ERA out of the Minnesota bullpen.

Outfielder Danny Santana (11) is hitting .133 in a reserve role for Minnesota while Brian Dozier (10) is hitting .241 with a pair of homers for the Twins.

Aaron Hicks (10) is hitting .269 as a backup outfielder for the Yankees while Liam Hendricks (10) has struggled to a 10.57 ERA in five outings out of the Oakland bullpen.

Ben Revere (08) is off to a slow start for the Angels, hitting .185 in nine games, while Yangervis Solarte (07) is hitting .232 for the San Diego Padres.

Danny Valencia (07) is hitting .154 for the Mariners in his eighth MLB season while Brian Duensing (06) made three appearances out of the Cubs bullpen.

Trevor Plouffe (05) is batting .205 as the starting third baseman for the As, while Anthony Swarzak (05) has thrown six scoreless innings out of the White Sox bullpen.

Yovani Gallardo (04) is 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA in three starts for the Mariners, while Tom Wilhelmsen (03) has a 7.50 ERA in four games out of the Arizona bullpen.

Rickey Weeks (03) is the veteran of the group in his 14th Major League season. Weeks is hitting .190 for the Rays.
