ROCKFORD — Winnebago County veterans will have the opportunity to achieve outdoor mobility independence through a new program in the Rockford area called VETANK, launched Thursday, Dec. 8.
Midway Village Museum, as a host to the AllenForce-Run program VETANK, will offer an all-terrain chair available to borrow for use at community events by qualified veterans and their family members. Organizations collaborating to bring this opportunity to the Rockford area are Stumpy’s Pub, with assistance from the Cosmopolitan Club, the Veterans Association of Winnebago County and AllenForce.
VETANK is a program of AllenForce, a non-profit serving veterans of all eras. The VETANK program was formed in 2012 to provide a free means for those with mobility issues to get back outside and enjoy themselves with little to no assistance.
Any veteran with a mobility issue qualifies to borrow the chair. The veteran will be required to complete an equipment loan agreement and complete a safety class prior to use of the chair. Contact AllenForce or your local VETANK host location to inquire. VETANK is currently supported in part through generous donations and sponsorships from the community and through host locations.
To help support VETANK, email them at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 779-205-3314. If interested in borrowing the all-terrain chair, call 815-397-9112.
