Family Respite Care Services is hosting its eighth annual Respite Care Conference for parents, caregivers, educators and medical providers of children with special needs on Friday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin Rock County, 2909 Kellogg Ave., Janesville.
Keynote speaker Patricia Clason, professional speaker and author, will cover topics such as personal growth, stress management and self awareness, as well as how to de-stress your distress.
Additional workshop topics include: how to find an in-home provider; what parents need to know before the bridge from youth to adult; advocacy and support;
seizure awareness; yoga as an adjunct strategy to Applied Behavioral Analysis programming for autism; teaching children to interact successfully with friends; anxiety, anger and ADHD; sensory intervention and non-verbal communication; and more.
Continuing Education credits are available. The cost is $50 for same-day registration, $20 for parents of FRCS programming and currently enrolled students and $40 for general participants.
