JANESVILLE — The YWCA Rock County will tackle the topic  of having an “unconscious bias” at its next Lunch & Learn program, from noon to 2 p.m. June 29 at the Rock County Job Center, Rooms D and E, 1900 Center Ave., Janesville. Those who attend can bring their lunch.

The program features Richard Harris, executive director of Vision Beyond Bars, an organization of volunteers dedicated to promoting social justice and equality.

Harris helped train Madison Police Department officers on unconscious bias and cultural competence. Madison Police awarded him the department’s Outstanding Support Award.

“It’s important we realize we all have biases, no matter who we are,” says Jane McCauley, YWCA Racial Justice Coordinator. “The more we are aware, the more we affect change.”
