ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois officials say a state-run mental health facility in Rockford will close this week.
Officials said Tuesday that the Singer Mental Health Center will close Thursday morning. The closure comes after an Illinois circuit judge on Tuesday denied a nurses union request to delay the closure.
The Rockford Register Star reports the Illinois Nurses Association filed suit in Winnebago County seeking to stop the closure until there can be a review of a state board's decision allowing it.
The review is pending and a status update is Nov. 15.
