BELOIT -- William D. Behling dies at 84

William D. Behling, retired Editor and Publisher of the newspaper, passed away Tuesday night after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Behling was a longtime fixture in Beloit’s civic leadership, and an icon of journalism in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Most recently, and for many years after his official retirement, Mr. Behling continued to research and write the popular “On This Date” column for the Beloit Daily News.
