Amelita Lamendola, age 84, of Janesville, died on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. She was born in Greenwood, AR, on January 13, 1929, the daughter of John and Mary (Bovero) Maestri. She married Angelo Lamendola in Arlington, VA on Nov. 12, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1995. Amelita was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Mark) Zillmer of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Tyler Zillmer, John Zillmer, Ethan Zillmer and Peter Zillmer; 2 sisters, Marie Witcher of California, and Gloria Brown of Virginia; 2 sisters-in-law, Geraldine Branz of Ohio and Madeline Shultz of Beloit; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 4 siblings: Pauline, Josephine, Leo and Louis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 N. Wright Rd, with Rev. Steve Ekblad officiating. Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.
