ROCKTON — Hononegah senior Reid Anderson will attend Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., in the fall of 2016 and will join former HHS teammate Austen Black on the Red Men’s golf team,
Both golfers were recruited by Carthage Head Coach Dave Roehl.
During Anderson’s four years at Hononegah he was voted First Team All-NIC-10 all four years and was the team MVP two years. He was the NIC-10 MVP in 2015.
Hononegah won the 2015 NIC-10 Conference Championship and Reid finished second individually. One week later, Hononegah won the IHSA Regional Championship and Anderson was the first-place medalist. During his four years at HHS the boys golf team was 34-2 in dual matches.
Coach Harrison Hearne and Assistant Coach Jeremy Aldrich have been not only coaches to Anderson but also mentors and friends.
A highlight for Andersonn occurred in 2014 when, under the sponsorship of Alpine Bank, he joined four other high school golfers and PGA Pro Kenny Perry to enjoy a spectacular day playing in the Rockford Pro-Am. Team Perry celebrated victory as the winning team shooting 18 under par,
Anderon started playing golf at the age of 2 and played his first tournament at 5. Since the age of 7, Reid has played local Rockford Park District, IJGA AND MAJGT tournaments. He is now ready to realize his dream of college golf.
